About me

I firmly believe that proactively supporting our wellbeing is critical to how well we navigate life. And moving into supporting others in this feels like a natural progression after years where my focus was on people and helping them, and their organisations, function well.

And I definitely believe that wellbeing support should be available to non-profits who may struggle to afford typical costs for external support.

I'm not flashy and I can't be doing with jargon for the sake of it, but if you want stuff that works that's approachable, simple and accessible then maybe we're a good fit.

Why work with me on wellbeing?

I love to share what I've benefitted from, and signpost others to options that may equally benefit them. We're all different and one size doesn't fit all. I seek to connect people with the knowledge and potential routes that could work for them, supporting them on their own wellbeing journey.

I haven't always navigated life 'well' and have learnt the hard way the importance of a proactive and informed approach to wellbeing. It doesn't promise a stress free and perfect health existence but I truly believe it has grown my resilience, brought me more capacity for joy and enabled me to be better know myself and focus on those things which are key to supporting me being my best self.

Without realising it, I was starting to explore 'wellbeing' long before it was really the buzzword it is today. Be that through my HR work - seeing how vital it was that people were supported, empowered and equipped to foster resilience and thrive, for both organisational and personal success - or through navigating the various personal challenges I've gone through over the years.  Experiences in my work and personal life have provided rich opportunities to learn and practice better wellbeing. They have resulted in the enthusiasm I now have for understanding and sharing how we can thrive  more as people, learning from the latest science and positive psychology insights available.

My background

I've been fortunate to enjoy a satisfying and varied work and life so far. My background is HR, I'm CIPD qualified and have over 20 years experience, during which time I've specialised in various HR disciplines, including learning and developement,  and practised in both corporate companies and small non- profits.

Having worked within both large organisations and small non-profits,  my heart is very much with smaller organisations, especially those in the Third Sector.

During my 10 years plus experience with non-profits I was able to take a far broader role nd contribute significantly to areas such as strategy, communications and community engagement, whilst also holding responsibility for all things HR, which in later years came to include wellbeing.

Why the interest in Christian organisations?

I readily work with people of all faiths and none. I practice a wellbeing approach that is based on science, established evidence and best practice. It is therefore accessible to all.

As a Christian, what I find interesting, and unsurprising, is that science is now proving much ancient biblical wisdom to be true, and is actually able to explain and/or evidence the impact on both body and brain. For those individuals and organisations who would find it informative and helpful to look at wellbeing in this way, I love to make the connections and look at wellbeing from this perspective.

small things wellbeing has been set up with the aim of offering:

A personal, simple and pragmatic approach. No bells or whistles but relational and realistically priced.

A way to improve organisational life when there is no-one with the time/ capacity/ knowledge to focus on wellbeing issues but it matters to the organisation.

Flexible pricing to enable those individuals and great-but-small organisations who may be least able to afford it, to afford wellbeing support.

A sympathetic response from someone experienced in various settings and who knows some of the challenges of life in a charity/ small/ faith based organisation.
